The 31-year-old's Holden Commodore was pulled over on Whitton Street, Narrandera about 4.40pm on Boxing Day.
The woman was submitted to a roadside oral fluid test, which gave a positive indication for methamphetamine.
Police said there were two children in the woman's vehicle; one of whom was just 25 days old.
The woman was arrested and taken to Narrandera police station for a secondary test, which police said also gave a positive reading.
She was banned from driving for 24 hours and issued a court notice for driving with an illicit drug present in oral fluid.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander Michael Corboy said the ongoing Christmas/New Year road safety blitz, Operation Safe Arrival, was seeing children being put at risk.
"Officers are also seeing people take risks with young children in the car, including not having infants properly restrained, and people driving at dangerous speeds, well over the limit," he said.
Double demerits remain in force until 11.59pm on New Year's Day.
