Mellan capped off a stellar season by winning the handicap singles grand final earlier this month.

Sean Hain had 42 handicap points, but it still wasn't enough despite a close start to the clash.

Mellan won the first game 85-77 but a double black was needed to split the pair.

Mellan come up with the goods after scored were tied when the black ball was potted before edging Hain 68-64 in the second game.

The third proved to be decisove with Mellan taking a 95-64 score to set up victory.

Hain got things back on track in the fourth, but couldn't reel in Hain who added to his Jerry Pearce Memorial Shield and A grade singles success.

Wagga RSL's Nick Kaletta is impressed.

"Brendan just out played him and played really well," Kaletta said.

"He's won the three major shields this year and no one has ever done that before."

Mellan also had a 100 break during the pennants season.

Along with Hamid Khan, who had a 106 break in practice, Kaletta believes the standard of snooker is rising in Wagga.

"They are lifting our standards a little bit higher," he said.
