On December 10, a test bore will be sunk on a parcel of council land at the southern end of the lake.
If successful, lake supporters believe it will form a central plank of a strategy to return water to the lake year-round.
It comes after a series of events were cancelled earlier this year when the lake’s water level became critically low.
A water diviner has identified the site as a potential spot for a successful bore.
The boat club will manage the test bore, courtesy of a $20,000 grant from council.
It will form one of three potential approaches to solving the water crisis.
Other proposals include diverting flows from Tatton drain and Crooked Creek.
