FIVE staff members at Junee Correctional Centre have been suspended after allegedly being caught spying on a female inmate as she undressed. It is understood the inmate was about to enter a shower and the staff watched her on a video feed. The organisation that runs the private prison - GEO Group - yesterday confirmed the suspensions which were handed down on Friday. "Five staff at the Junee Correctional Centre have been suspended pending an internal investigation into an incident of inappropriate behaviour at the centre," a statement read. "There was no risk to the security of the centre or to the safety of staff, public and inmates." NSW Corrective Services has taken action, and despite internal investigations by GEO Group the matter has been referred to the department's professional standards branch. "The commissioner has called for a full report," a department spokeswoman said. The union which represents Junee Correctional Centre staff - United Voice - yesterday made inquiries into the allegations but uncovered little information."(GEO Group) aren't telling me anything ... they said if (the staff) are members they can come to me," local union organiser, Geoff Lawler, said."I am really mystified by this, I must say. Junee has always understood their rights."
